Does Lightroom's Denoise just make Topaz Labs obsolete?

Adobe just released a major update to Lightroom with several important features you'll want to pay close attention to. The most impressive feature is simply called Denoise, which finally adds truly impressive noise reduction to the Develop module. Until today's update, I'd never recommend anyone use Lightroom's noise reduction sliders because they often yield terrible results. However, with the new Denoise tool, you can get outstanding noise reduction without using a 3rd party app.

Denoise showdown: Lightroom vs. Topaz Photo AI

As excited as I was to experiment with this new feature, I was more curious about how it compares to my current noise reduction tool: Topaz Photo AI. So, I devised a series of tests using several workflows and output requirements. All I can say is that I was very surprised with the results and I think you will be too.

What do you think?

After watching my comparison video, will you still use 3rd party apps for noise reduction, or has Adobe won you over? Leave a comment below letting us know!
